Getting started
This guide takes you from sign-up to your first call.
1. Create your organization
- Go to the sign-up page and enter your Email address and a Password (at least 8 characters), then click Continue. You can also sign up with Google or GitHub.
- Enter Your full name and your Organization name, then click Create organization.
- Check your inbox for a verification email and click the link. If you don't see it, check your spam folder.
- On the Create your organization screen, confirm your name and organization name (phone number is optional) and click Create Organization.
You are now the organization's first Organization Admin. Your organization starts a 14-day free trial of the Pro Starter plan. No credit card is required to start.
When the trial ends, your organization moves to the Free Trial plan automatically. You are not charged and your account is not cancelled — but the Free plan has much lower limits and no call recording, transcription or AI analysis. See Billing, plans & seats.
2. Signing in
- Sign in with your email and password, or with Google/GitHub.
- Forgot your password? Click Forgot your password? on the sign-in page, enter your email, and click Send reset instructions. Follow the emailed link to set a new password.
3. Complete the setup checklist
Organization Admins see a Get started with Call Helm checklist on the Dashboard. Each step links to the right page:
| Step | What to do |
|---|---|
| Invite your team | Add agents on the Agents page. See Agents, roles & permissions. |
| Add contacts | Add contacts one at a time or import a CSV on the Contacts page. See Contacts. |
| Create a campaign | Build your first call list. See Call lists. |
| Set up your calling number | Add a phone number under Settings → Phone Numbers. See Phone numbers. |
| Make your first call | Open the Call Board and start calling. See Making calls. |
Steps are checked off automatically as you complete them. Click Don't show again to hide the checklist permanently, or the X to hide it for now.
4. Before you can call or text
Two things must be in place:
- Your organization needs a phone number. Buy a number, port your existing number, or verify a business number you already own (verified numbers work for outbound caller ID only — they cannot send SMS). Purchasing and porting require a paid plan.
- Each agent needs a phone to receive calls on. Call Helm calls the agent's phone first, then connects the contact. Set this under Settings → Profile → Calling Preferences. See Making calls.
To send text messages, US carriers also require your business to be registered (10DLC). See SMS compliance.
5. Know your way around
The left sidebar shows the pages available to your role:
- Dashboard — today's activity at a glance.
- Call Board — your call queue, live calls and today's progress.
- Call Lists — campaigns (admins and team leads).
- Contacts — your contact database.
- Agents — team management (admins and team leads).
- Messages — the SMS inbox.
- Broadcasts — bulk SMS (Professional, Business, and Enterprise plans, and only for users granted broadcast permission).
- Analytics — performance reports (admins, team leads and billing admins).
- Settings — profile, organization, phone numbers, billing and integrations.
Use the Help & Support item in the profile menu (top right) to return to this help center.
What the Dashboard shows
